A 31-year-old man sustained fatal injuries in a crash involving a motorcycle and an SUV on Thursday afternoon in Lexington County.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol and local officials, the collision occurred around 3:25 p.m. on July 3 at the intersection of U.S. Highway 378 (Broad Street) and Loring Mill Road, near Shaw Air Force Base. Authorities say a 2020 Ford SUV was traveling north on Loring Mill Road when it entered the intersection and was struck by a 2024 Yamaha motorcycle traveling east on Broad Street.
The motorcyclist, identified as Robert Clark of Sumter County, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two of the four individuals in the SUV were transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation. Their current conditions have not been released.
