One Dead, Three Hospitalized After Crash Involving Amazon Truck in Cherokee County

A man sustained fatal injuries and three others were hospitalized after a collision involving an Amazon delivery truck Monday evening in Cherokee County.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP) and the Cherokee County Coroner’s Office, the crash occurred around 5:10 p.m. on Pacolet Highway, just outside Gaffney. Officials say a 2008 Lexus was heading west when it collided with an Amazon delivery box truck attempting to turn left into a private driveway.

A rear-seat passenger in the Lexus, identified as 61-year-old Bobby Andrew Peak of Union, was pronounced dead at  the scene. The driver and front passenger of the Lexus, along with the Amazon truck driver, were transported to a local hospital for treatment. Their current conditions have not been released.

The incident remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol. No citations or charges have been announced.

Crashes involving Amazon delivery vehicles often raise questions about liability, safety procedures, and driver responsibility. Amazon often tries to avoid fault by claiming their drivers are independent contractors who they are not responsible for. Bringardner Injury Law assists individuals and families across South Carolina in navigating the legal complexities that can follow serious vehicle collisions, providing guidance and support through every step of the process.
