Robert Leventhal Killed in Pedestrian Accident on Maybank Highway

A fatal pedestrian vehicle collision on Maybank Highway has killed 74-year-old Robert Leventhal of Mount Pleasant. According to the Charleston County Coroner, Mr. Leventhal passed away at MUSC on December 6th due to injuries from the December 5th crash. The incident occurred around 7:06 p.m., shutting down a major stretch of the roadway for more than two hours as authorities responded. The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Pedestrian fatalities can raise serious questions about liability, roadway safety, and negligence. Families who lose loved ones in pedestrian accidents may have the right to pursue wrongful death claims against responsible parties. Pedestrian cases can be complex, requiring careful investigation into potential driver errors, roadway hazards, or other contributing factors. Unfortunately, when a pedestrian is fatally struck by a vehicle, the pedestrian is often put at fault in the police report because they cannot tell their side of the story. Mark Bringardner has lectured at South Carolina Bar seminars on auto v. pedestrian accident investigation and litigation.

Bringardner Injury Law Firm’s detailed pedestrian accident investigations have found liability against drivers after the police initially blamed the pedestrian.
