Fatal Head-On Collision in Berkeley County Claims Life of 31-Year-Old Alcolu Woman

A tragic two-vehicle crash in Berkeley County has left one driver dead and another hospitalized, according to information released by the South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office.

Officials identified the victim as 31-year-old Jessica Nicole Way, of Clarendon County, who died at the scene of the collision. The crash occurred around 7:00 p.m. on the evening of Tuesday, December 2nd, along U.S. Highway 52, near the intersection with Butterbean Road just outside Lake Moultrie.

According to Highway Patrol Cpl. Nick Pye, Way was traveling west in a 2019 GMC Acadia when a 2004 Honda SUV, headed east, crossed left of the center line and struck her vehicle head-on.

Crashes involving vehicles that cross the center line often raise critical questions about driver negligence, roadway conditions, and potential liability. When a family loses a loved one in a sudden, preventable crash, the emotional and financial toll can be overwhelming. In situations like this, surviving family members may have the right to pursue wrongful death claims to hold at-fault parties accountable.
