A devastating crash in Pickens County has claimed the lives of two Upstate residents, according to the Pickens County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
The collision occurred on Thursday, December 11th, when a 2013 Honda Civic was attempting to enter SC 183 from Jameson Road. During the maneuver, a 2025 GMC pickup truck struck the Honda on the driver’s side. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, and a passenger was transported to Greenville Memorial Hospital, where they later died from their injuries.
Officials identified the victims as 69-year-old Joseph E. Aenbacher, who was driving the Honda, and 75-year-old Marsha A. Gregory, who was riding as a passenger. Both were residents of Inman. The incident remains under investigation by the Pickens County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Crashes at intersections and highway entry points highlight potential issues relating to right-of-way, driver awareness, and potential negligence. When a fatal accident occurs, surviving family members are left not only grieving but also facing unexpected financial and legal challenges. In some cases, families may be entitled to pursue wrongful death claims to seek accountability and compensation for their loss.
