According to reports, the incident happened around 7:45 a.m., when the driver of a disabled 18-wheeler, identified as William Bennett, 56, from Summerville, and was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene. Tragically, Bennett was pronounced dead at the scene.

The North Charleston Police Department responded to the crash, which took place on the Don Holt Bridge near Virginia Avenue. The accident led to significant traffic delays, with multiple lanes blocked for several hours.
